PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, Indonesian largest telephone company, said it reported a 0.7 percent decline in first-half profit compared with a year earlier as costs increased.
Net income in the six months ended June 30 fell to IDR 6 trillion, or IDR305.2 a share, from IDR6.04 trillion or IDR306 rupiah, a year earlier.
Revenue gained 5 percent to 34.2 trillion rupiah. Operational costs in the period rose to IDR22.9 trillion compared with 21 trillion rupiah a year earlier, the Bandung, West Java-based company said.
Telkom are trying to lure customers by cutting rates and providing faster data through expansion third-generation technology, known as 3G, increasing operational cost.
