Darmin a new Governor Bank Indonesia

Darmin Nasution has elected by Indonesian parliementary become a new central bank governor's.
The election ending a 14-month impasse over the central bank's leadership. The 54 lawmakers representing Commission XI, the body charged with considering Darmin nomination, agreed by
consensus to approve him following two days of questioning.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was nominated Darmin , to be central bank chief in June, after the previous governor, Boediono, resigned in May 2009 to become Yudhoyono's running mate in last year's presidential election.
Darmin was born in Tapanuli on 21st December 1948. In 1986 he received his doctorate of Economics from the University of Paris, Sorbonne, France.
Darmin served as Director General of the Financial Institution from 2000-2005 and was subsequently named as Chairman of Indonesia’s Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency in 2006. The position held immediately prior to his appointment as Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia was Director General of Taxation.
Darmin term of office will run from 2009 – 2014 pursuant to Presidential Decree No.57/P 2009, dated 17th July 2009. He will be sworn into office on 27th July 2009.
In relation to the promulgation of Presidential Decree No. 38/P, 2009, on 19th May 2009 regarding the resignation of Prof. Dr. Boediono as Governor of Bank Indonesia, as well as legislated by Act No. 23, 1999, concerning Bank Indonesia and amended by Act No. 6, 2009, the Senior Deputy Governor, Darmin Nasution, will take on the mantle of Acting Governor
