Rusia vs South Korea to deliver submarine

Russia will compete with South Korea in the second round of a tender for the supply of two submarines to Indonesia. Two country has been shortlisted for a $700 million contract to deliver two submarines to Indonesia.
Indonesia’s naval forces have set the requirements for the technical characteristics of the acquired submarines and are busy elaborating the payment schedule.
Germany and France took part in the tender’s first round along with Russia and South Korea.
In 2014 Indonesia plans to start work on the first domestically produced submarine.
Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago with more than 17,000 islands, lies across shipping lanes between the Indian and Pacific oceans as well as between Asia and Australia, heavily used for transporting commodities and energy. It currently has two submarines, KRI Cakra and KRI Nanggala.
South Korea was repowering the Indonesia's submarine. The ex-German submarine built in 1977 joined the Indonesian Navy in 1981, and the renovation covered its navigation to weaponry system.
