Agus Martowardojo strong candidate finance minister

Career banker Agus Dermawan Wintarto Martowardojo, 54 years old, strong candidate to replacing Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati who move to World Bank as a managing director.
Agus Martowardojo turned around state-owned Bank Mandiri, the country's biggest lender, by slashing non-performing loans and raising the bank's profile among international investors.
Agus Martowardojo is most notably credited for revitalizing an almost-bankrupt private bank, PT Bank Permata, into a stable performer during his time as president director from 2003 to 2005.
President Yudhoyono nominated him as a candidate for central bank governor in 2008, but he and the other candidate at the time, Raden Pardede, were both rejected by a parliament that appeared keen to flex its political muscle.
He was born ini Amsterdam on 24th January 1956. His undergraduated was completed in Faculty Economic of Universitas Indonesia 1984. After that Agus joined several banking and management course in State University of New York, Standford University, and Intitute of Banking & Finance, Singapore.
