Indosat selecting tower advisor

The second largest cellular operator in Indonesia, PT Indosat Tbk, has been selecting some shortlisted financial advisors to optimize tower business option. There are nine investment banks invited by Indosat, and only two or three shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted here includes Citi, JP Morgan, and maybe Credit Suisse.
The selected financial advisor is expectedly to provide recommendation on the tower optimization to boost up corporate value.
Indosat has 12,000 telecommunication towers. Besides, on September 30, 2009, the cellular telephone operator operated 16,145 base transceiver stations (bts) from 13,096 units in 2008. Meanwhile, the base station controller increased into 308 units as from 284 units.
In the terms of reference of the tower optimization the nominated financial advisor has working coverage to help the due diligence process of the targeted company.
The government policy on tower sharing among telecommunication operators has driven Indosat to sell the telecommunication towers.
The government policy to establish a telecommunication tower company by 2015 for telecommunication operators sharing is deemed the reason for Indosat corporate action.
